Rich Smith is the Production Direct, Sports Producer and host of The Drive Home at WCTL. Rich has worked at WCTL since 2004 when he was an intern. He then began employment at the station in 2005 as a board operator and weekend announcer. Rich can be heard on WCTL on weekdays from 2 to 6.
Rich grew up in Erie, Pa. and graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Communications. Before coming to WCTL, Rich was a weekend announcer at Classy 100, a morning and afternoon drive announcer for WFSE, public service/production direct at WFSE and announcer for WMCE. Rich currently lives with his wife Emily, their two daughters, Laura and Grace, and their son Cameron.
Q&A with Rich:
Why radio? How did you get into radio?
I grew up learning the business. My father was a personality for several Top 40 stations from the ’70’s to the late ’90’s. I started working at WMCE in college and my career moved on from there.

What hobbies do you have that you do in your free time?
I like to go camping, cook and play with my kids. I’m also a huge Science Fiction fan.
What is your favorite TV show from your childhood?
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
What is your favorite animated movie?
Wall-E and Finding Nemo (it’s a tossup)
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An art teacher
Do you have any hidden talents that listeners might not know?
I write children’s books. I don’t have anything published yet, but I’d like to.
