Psalm 96:1 says "Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the Earth"
New songs to listen for on WCTL:
The Struggle-Tenth Avenue North
Mike Donehey (lead singer) says: The name, The Struggle, comes from what accidentally became our mission statement. Our very first record we were getting interviewed and asked what kind of songs we hope to write, and our answer was that we want to convey truth, but also the struggle to believe that truth, because truth without the emotion behind it can often come across as just cruel. All of us, whether we admit it or not, we're weak and sinful, and we need the help of the Holy Spirit. We all struggle to believe the truth.
Unashamed of you-Chris August
Hope is what we crave-For King and Country
Luke Smallbone describes what inspired the song: A number of months ago I received a phone call from a dear friend of mine. He had unfortunate news to share with me that one of my best friends from high school had been in a tragic motorcycle accident and he was in a coma, and they didn't think he was going to make it. For me, that was the first time I had received one of those phone calls. We all know they are going to happen in life. Three weeks later I had the opportunity to go see him in the hospital, and he was still in the coma. I was trying to prepare myself for what I would see. I don't spend a lot of time in hospitals, and that is challenging, especially to the mind. I walked in, saw my friend, and saw he was breathing. I looked into his eyes, and saw that he was lifeless. I walked out of that room after seeing him in that hopeless, desperate state, that every single one of us crave this thing called hope. When we have people in our lives who are saturated with hope, they do incredible things. Without it, we all become lifeless. The song came out of a desperate heart cry. I remember when I was sitting in the room with my friend, when I was writing the song. It was a hopeless day. We were searching for the word hope in other songs, and that's how this song came about.
I’m running-Tammy Trent
Tammy writes about the song: I could see her trying desperately to make her way through the crowd to get to me as I was leaving my event. I thought, no worries, just one more autograph or hug. But then she stopped right there in front of me, smiling through her tears. I could see her struggling to find the words. But it was her words I journaled and will never forget. She said, "Tammy, I've been running my whole life chasing after thing that never seem to fit. I've been lost, broken and empty. But tonight I felt hope. I felt loved. I felt captured and not abandoned for the first time. I can't stop smiling knowing that I finally found where I belong and this is a new start for me. I want Jesus...to be in my life". Amanda, I wrote this song for YOU and anyone else who is running....someplace. Keep running....but run straight to the one who will do more than just get your through the storm. You are never alone! Jesus says, I will be with you whenever, wherever and FOREVER! Matthew 28:20
